CONCEPTING. GRAPHIC DESIGN. ILLUSTRATION. Each year, The Nerd Machine held a four-day event called Nerd HQ to coincide with the San Diego Comic-con International's annual convention. Nerd HQ wass filled with celebrity panels, video game demos and a store selling nerd merchandise. As a self-professed pop culture nerd, collaborating with The Nerd Machine was a dream. I handed them a design and then would step out of the way. They did their magic, applying it to apparel, posters and other unexpected items. The process seemed to work. During one weekend of Nerd HQ, one design sold enough t-shirts to cover the cost of running the business for the entire year.
